Preparing for Resource Extraction: A learning guide for civil society in Afghanistan to support equitable and peaceful resource extraction

Thumbnail GR LGLien De Brouckere was the author, researcher and editor-in-chief of this 132-page learning guide, published in June 2014 by the civil society organization, Afghanistan Watch, in collaboration with the international human rights organization, Global Rights: Partners for Justice.

The learning guide provides a background on natural resource wealth in Afghanistan, the roles and responsibilities of those involved and the process, impacts and benefits of resource extraction. The guide also sets out the legal framework for resource extraction in Afghanistan and tools for civil society to empower local societies, document and monitor impacts, inform policy and seek accountability.

The learning guide is available in English, Dari and Pashto.
